‘How can I have a positive birth…I’m having a C-Section…’
I have heard this so many times before and I get it…you may have the preconceived idea that in order for a birth to be ‘positive’, it has to be a certain kind of birth
It may feel like you no longer have any options for your birth if you are planning an elective caesarean birth.
This just isn’t the case.
There are still many things for you to consider and many things that you can do to prepare for a positive birth experience.
And here’s the thing…a positive birth isn’t a certain kind of birth…it isn’t the ‘perfect’ birth (which would actually differ for each person anyway, because birth is a unique experience)…no, a positive birth is one that leaves you feeling that;
- Your views and choices were listened to and discussed
- You felt fully involved in any decisions that needed to be made regarding the birth of your baby
- You felt respected
- You could cope with any twist and turns that may come your way in the birthing journey
- You, your baby and your birth were treated as individuals and an individual experience
- You felt fully prepared and informed
- You and your birth partner felt empowered and confident in your voice
So, when you look at it like that…you can see that I don’t mention a particular way that baby made it’s wonderful entrance into this amazing world, the focus is on how you feel about it before, during and after!
Everyone deserves a positive birth experience and I know how preparing for a Caesarean birth has helped my clients, one recently said ‘I’d like for people to know that it’s not a bad thing having a c-section and that is is still just as wonderful!’
Therefore I am launching a dedicated 3 hour positive caesarean workshop during which you will learn;
❖The positive belief that a Caesarean Birth can be a positive experience for a baby, woman and her birth partner
❖What is a Caesarean Birth?
❖To look forward, optimistically, to a gentle, safe, calm and comfortable and stress free birth
❖How to release any fears that may be associated with a caesarean birth
❖How to relax deeply and quickly using breathing techniques, visualisations and Mp3’s
❖How to promote the production of your hormones to promote bonding and feeding after a caesarean birth
❖Breathing techniques that work with your body to maximise your body’s natural relaxation responses
❖The knowledge and power to navigate pregnancy & birth if things don’t go as you have planned
❖What happens before, during and after your caesarean birth and what to expect
❖Recovery – top tips
The key to a positive and empowered birth really is in the belief and the preparation, immersing yourself in everything positive about birth and doing your daily practice.
