Births…they can’t really be planned for…right?
You may be reading this nodding your head because someone may have had actually said that to you and it’s made you question your desire for a birth plan and to attend any kind of birth preparation sessions.
Births can be wonderfully unpredictable but that doesn’t mean that you can’t take steps to enable yourself to feel the most prepared that you can be for the arrival of your little one.
And like my Dad always said to me…’Opinions are like arseholes…everybody has one…’!
I remember all too well that feeling of being overwhelmed by information and opinion from all different sources during my pregnancies and during my second pregnancy, it really wasn’t until I signed up to do The Wise Hippo birthing programme that I felt the anxieties about the birth start to melt away and I gained the confidence to ensure my voice was heard and my birth preferences were noted!
That’s why I became an antenatal and postnatal educator so that from early pregnancy, through to a positive birth experience and into the first throws of parenthood; I can be by your side, supporting you as you prepare for the arrival of your little one, however you need it, for bump, birth and baby.
The main thing I can tell you is that there really is no one size fits all approach and I want to work with you to help you get rid of those anxieties or negative beliefs you may be feeling or having and build your inner confidence to rock this birth and parenting thing your way and that is what is most important to me.
I am not here to tell you what to do or how to do it, I am here to support you in your choices and offer you a wealth of easy to use tools and techniques for you to practice and use in your daily life and supply and signpost you to the information you can use to make informed choices and have the most empowered and positive pregnancy and birth experience for you and your baby.
I will help you ensure that everything regarding the birth of your baby has been agreed by you and even if you need to put your care in the hands of the wonderful health professionals we are so fortunate to have in this country, you will know that you have had ‘the right birth on the day’
And why is the ‘Right Birth on the Day’ so bloomin’ important?
As one of the founders of The Wise Hippo, Dany Griffiths so eloquently puts it;
‘…because a woman who knows that her baby has ‘the right birth on the day’ does not feel traumatised by her baby’s birth, in fact it can be one of the most empowering experiences of her life’
If you are in Milton Keynes, Buckingham, North Buckinghamshire, Bicester, Bedfordshire, South Northamptonshire or surrounding areas and this all sounds pretty good to you AND you are feeling YES!
